The GMT-H2 stainless steel weight transmitter is a wall- or desk-mount weighing instrument built for hygienic, washdown and corrosive environments. A bright 2" 6-digit LED display, four inputs and six outputs, dual RS485 plus RS232 serial and optional Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT or CC-Link IE Ethernet boards sit inside a 240 × 70 × 150 mm waterproof stainless suspension housing with cable glands — the durable choice for South African food, pharma, dairy and chemical plants where operators need a clearly visible local readout next to the scale.

Built for washdown duty with a bright local display

The GMT-H2's 2" 6-digit LED nixie display stays readable from across a packing hall — much brighter than the LCD on a wall-mount unit and easier to see from a distance than the OLED on a DIN-rail X1 or X4. Operator status LEDs for POWER, ZERO, STAB, NET and the two COM ports give an instant view of whether the scale is settled and which serial line is active.

The 240 × 70 × 150 mm stainless steel waterproof shell has cable glands for power, load-cell and communication entries — no exposed terminals, no holes for water or dust to reach the electronics. Mount it on the wall directly, or order the optional 246 × 220 × 59 mm desktop stand for a bench scale.

I/O and fieldbus, with a single load-cell channel

The H2 is a single-channel transmitter — one analog input for up to 8 × 350 Ω load cells in parallel. Where it earns its place against the smaller P1 is in I/O density and protocol coverage: four configurable transistor inputs, six configurable outputs, four preset points and an optional analogue output (current or voltage selectable). Two RS485 ports plus one RS232 are standard, so the unit can talk to a PLC on one bus and a print-and-stats package on another simultaneously.

Ethernet-based protocols (Modbus TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, CC-Link IE Field Basic) are order-option boards. Single-network-port and dual-port versions are available; the dual-port boards include a built-in switch for daisy-chain topologies.

Where the GMT-H2 fits in the line-up

Choose the GMT-H2 when the application is single-channel, needs a bright local readout for the operator, and runs in a wet or hygienic environment where a cabinet-mounted DIN-rail unit cannot live. For four independent scales in one waterproof housing, the new GMT-H4 is the equivalent. For AC-powered remote / off-grid duty with cellular telemetry, the GMT-H1 covers that niche. For DIN-rail cabinet duty inside a dry control room, the GMT-X1 is the more compact choice.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the GMT-H2 typically used?

Hygienic and washdown duty: food production, dairy, beverage, pharma, chemical processing. The waterproof stainless shell, cable-gland entries and bright LED display all suit plant-floor installations where the operator needs to see the weight from a distance.

Can I mount it on a desk instead of a wall?

Yes. The hanging suspension housing wall-mounts as standard; an optional 246 × 220 × 59 mm stainless stand turns it into a desktop unit for bench scales and weigh stations.

How does the H2 connect to a PLC?

Standard: RS485 Modbus RTU. Two RS485 ports plus one RS232 port are built in, so the unit can talk to a PLC and a printer or data-logger at the same time. Order options add Modbus TCP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT or CC-Link IE Field Basic over Ethernet.

How many I/O points are available?

Four configurable digital inputs and six configurable outputs (transistor open-collector). One analogue output (4 – 20 mA or 0 – 10 V, selectable) is also available. The four built-in preset points handle simple set-point control without a PLC.

Is the GMT-H2 IP-rated?

The housing is stainless steel waterproof with cable-gland entries — built for washdown use. The manual does not publish a specific IP-rating number in the spec table; contact us if your project requires certified ingress-protection documentation.

What power supply does the H2 need?

DC 24 V (18 – 36 VDC), about 10 W. If your site does not have a 24 VDC bus and you need AC-mains input, look at the GMT-H1 instead, which runs directly off AC 90 – 260 V.
