Frequently asked questions
What does a weighing controller do?
A weighing controller reads the load cell signal and runs the weighing cycle - packing, batching, filling or dosing. It drives the feed gates, hits target weight, and reports results to your PLC or ERP.
What is the difference between a checkweigher and a normal scale?
A checkweigher weighs every product in motion on the production line and automatically rejects under- or overweight packs at up to 300 pieces per minute. A normal scale weighs one item at rest.
Are you the General Measure distributor in South Africa?
Yes. R&D Weighing supplies, commissions and supports the General Measure range locally, with stock and support based in Centurion, Gauteng.
Can your equipment integrate with my PLC or ERP?
Yes. Our controllers and transmitters support Modbus TCP/RTU, Profinet, EtherNet/IP and EtherCAT, and Skyris connects weighing data to ERP systems.
Where do you supply and support?
We supply and support customers across South Africa and the SADC region from our base in Hennopspark, Centurion, Gauteng.
Do you work with OEMs and machine builders?
Yes. We supply DIN-rail controllers and weight transmitters with documented registers, volume pricing and integration support for machine builders.
