What is the difference between single-head and dual-head packing weighers?

A single-head weigher fills one bag at a time and is the right choice when throughput targets sit below about 1,500 packs per hour. A dual-head weigher alternates two weigh heads into the same bag stream, roughly doubling packs-per-hour for the same bag size while keeping individual weighing accuracy. Choose dual-head when your bottleneck is throughput, single-head when it is footprint or capital cost.

Which weigher should I use for sugar packing?

For 25 kg and 50 kg sugar packs the AF-25K, AF-50K and their dual-head II variants are the South African industry default. The 3-load-cell variants (AF-25K 3LC, AF-50K II 3LC) give better accuracy on coarser raw and brown sugar grades where bridging in the supply hopper can otherwise upset a single-load-cell scale.

The AF-50K Fertilizer high-speed variant is purpose-built for fertilizer with SS316L stainless construction for corrosion resistance, plus upgraded servo control and a vibrator for fine feeding. For larger 25 to 100 kg fertilizer packs the AF-100K Gross Weigher handles the full range with SS304 construction.

What is a bulk flow weigher and when do I need one?

Accepted Answer

A bulk flow weigher (the AT series) is a continuous gain-in-weight scale that totalises tonnage as material flows through an intake hopper, rather than packing discrete bags. Use a bulk weigher for grain intake at silos and mills, port loading and discharge, animal feed plants and any application where you need a running total of tonnes through the line rather than a count of finished bags.

Can these weighers integrate with my existing PLC or SCADA system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All the AF, LF and AT scales communicate over Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profinet or EtherNet/IP depending on the controller fitted, and expose weights, setpoints and batch status to the line PLC or SCADA. We help specify the right controller during quoting so the integration is sorted before delivery.
