The linear feeder controller GMC-X802 drives industrial vibration feeders. The linear-track and pan feeders used to convey bulk solids from a hopper into a downstream weigher, batcher or packaging machine. With adjustable amplitude control and integration into combination weighing and dosing systems, the X802 is the standard choice for South African food processing, snack manufacturing, pharmaceutical packing and any line where a multi-head weigher needs reliable upstream feeding.
Vibration amplitude control for consistent flow
Vibratory feeders move bulk solids by inducing controlled vibration in a feed tray. Material flows along the tray at a rate proportional to vibration amplitude. The challenge is that product characteristics (moisture, particle size, density) change shift-to-shift, so a fixed amplitude that worked on yesterday's batch may over- or under-feed today's. The GMC-X802 modulates amplitude in real time based on demand signals from the downstream weigher. When the weigher needs more product the X802 turns up the vibration, when the weigher signals 'full' the X802 backs off. This closed-loop control is what makes multi-head combination weighing reliable across product variation.
Integration with combination weighers and dosing systems
The X802 is most commonly specified into multi-head combination weighers where 8, 12 or 16 weigh hoppers each need their own feeder driving them. One X802 per feeder, all coordinated by the supervisory PLC, gives each weigh hopper independent fill control matched to its emptying cycle. The same architecture works for dosing systems where several materials are fed simultaneously into a common mixer through individually-controlled vibratory feeders.
Frequently asked questions
What types of vibratory feeders does the GMC-X802 control?
Linear-track feeders (most common), pan feeders, bowl feeders and tube feeders, anything driven by a vibration coil or electromagnet. The X802 outputs a controlled current to the feeder coil; the user sets the maximum amplitude limit on the controller and the supervisory PLC modulates within that range.
Can multiple GMC-X802 controllers be coordinated for a multi-head weigher?
Yes. That is the standard architecture for combination weighing. One X802 per weigh head, all reading demand signals from the central weighing controller. The X802's response time is fast enough (milliseconds) to support the fill-discharge cycle rates of high-speed combination weighers used in snack and confectionery packing.
Does the X802 work with electromagnetic and motor-driven feeders?
The X802 is designed for electromagnetic (vibration-coil) feeders. For motor-driven feeders such as screw or belt feeders, the GMC-X3 (loss-in-weight) or a VFD-driven motor controller is the more appropriate choice. Vibration control and rotary speed control are different control regimes.
