The GMT-X1 DIN rail weight transmitter is a weighing controller built for automation cabinets where space, cable management and PLC integration are priorities. It packs a 128 x 32 OLED display, 8-way comparator, Bluetooth-app configuration and native support for Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Profibus-DP, CC-Link IE and EtherCAT into a 131 x 111 x 32 mm housing - letting one DIN slot replace a panel-mount indicator plus a fieldbus gateway in South African OEM and SI machine builds.
Built for automation cabinets, with a display when you need one
Unlike pure DIN-rail signal conditioners that have no readout, the GMT-X1 carries its own white OLED display and 6-key sounding keyboard on the front face of the module. That matters during commissioning, fault-finding and calibration - when a panel builder is on site with the cabinet door open, having weight, status and parameter values visible on the module itself avoids cabling a temporary HMI just to confirm the loop works.
In normal running the X1 sits on a standard 35 mm DIN rail alongside PLC modules, power supplies and signal conditioners. The display and operator interface for the operator live on the HMI or SCADA the PLC already drives - removing duplicated screens and giving system integrators a cleaner, more maintainable architecture.
Bluetooth configuration and multi-protocol integration
The GMT-X1 includes a Bluetooth 5.0 module that pairs with the free Weasy mobile app. Calibration, zero, span, filter setup and parameter dumps all happen from a phone or tablet at the cabinet - no laptop, no USB cable, no proprietary licence. For sites where the cabinet is hard to reach (process skid, mezzanine, outdoor enclosure), this single feature saves real commissioning time.
On the network side the X1 ships with serial RS232 / RS485 standard, with order-option boards adding Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Profibus-DP, CC-Link IE or EtherCAT. The dual-network-port boards include a built-in switch, so the X1 daisy-chains into existing fieldbus rings without an external network switch.
Where the GMT-X1 fits in the General Measure range
Choose the GMT-X1 when the application is single-channel (one scale, one platform, one hopper) and integrates with a PLC over fieldbus. For four independent scales in one DIN-rail unit, step up to the GMT-X4. For washdown or wall-mount duty with a local display for operators, look at the GMT-H2. For compact panel-mount where DIN rail is not available, the GMT-P1 remains the budget choice.
Frequently asked questions
How is the GMT-X1 different from a panel-mount transmitter like the GMT-P1?
The GMT-X1 mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail inside an automation cabinet (no panel cutout, snap-on installation, 32 mm wide) and adds Bluetooth configuration plus full fieldbus protocols (Profinet, EthIP, EtherCAT, CC-Link IE). The GMT-P1 is a panel-cutout indicator with serial only. Choose the X1 when the cabinet has a PLC and DIN rail; choose the P1 when you have panel space but no rail.
Which fieldbus protocols does the GMT-X1 support?
Serial protocols are standard. Order-option boards like Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Profibus-DP, CC-Link IE and EtherCAT. The double-network-port option includes a built-in switch for ring or daisy-chain topologies.
Do I need special software to configure the GMT-X1?
No. The GMT-X1 configures three ways: through the on-module front panel (6 keys + OLED), through the free Weasy mobile app over Bluetooth, or through the built-in web interface over EtherNet (when the network port option is fitted). No proprietary PC software or paid licence is required.
How many load cells can the GMT-X1 drive?
One analog load cell channel, up to 8 × 350 Ω load cells in parallel (1 mV/V, 2 mV/V or 3 mV/V sensitivity). For applications needing multiple independent scales in one unit, look at the GMT-X4 (four channels).
What are the input / output options?
Standard is 3 inputs / 5 outputs transistor I/O, or 3 inputs / 4 outputs relay (order option). An 8-way comparator handles set-point logic, so simple batching can run without a PLC. CAN-open and analogue output are additional order options.
What power supply does the GMT-X1 use?
DC 24 V (18 – 30 VDC), about 5 W. It runs off the same 24 VDC bus as most PLC cabinets - no separate power supply needed.
