Four-Channel DIN-Rail Transmitter

GMT-X4 Weight Transmitter

Four-channel DIN-rail weight transmitter with OLED
The GMT-X4 is a compact DIN-rail weight transmitter with four independent load-cell channels and a OLED display. Each channel runs as a separate scale, or any two-to-four channels combine into one total weight – ideal for tank farms, multi-vessel process installations where one cabinet handles every weighing point on the plant.

The GMT-X4 four-channel DIN-rail transmitter handles four independent load-cell inputs/weighing systems in a single 61 × 132 × 126 mm housing - each channel running as its own scale, or any two-to-four channels combined into one total weight. OLED display, 4 in / 8 out digital I/O and native Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and CC-Link IE support make it the go-to choice for South African tank farms, multi-vessel processes that need one cabinet, one DIN slot, and four weighing points.

When one transmitter beats four

In a multi-scale plant - say, a 4-silo batching cabinet or a tank farm with four reactor vessels - the traditional answer is four single-channel transmitters, four power supplies, four fieldbus addresses and four sets of wiring back to the PLC. The GMT-X4 collapses all of that into one DIN-rail module: four 6-wire load-cell channels, one power feed, one fieldbus address and one configuration session. For panel builders that is meaningful cabinet space, less wiring labour and fewer spares.

Each channel is fully independent. Calibration, decimal point, division size and capacity are set per channel, so the X4 can run a small 5 kg check scale on channel 1 and a 50-tonne silo on channel 4 simultaneously without compromise.

Independent or combined modes

Channels switch between Independent mode (four separate scales reporting four weights) and Combination mode (selected channels summed into one total) at runtime. In Combination mode the X4 supports any subset - channels 1+2, 1+2+3, all four, or a custom mask - making it suitable for split-platform truck scales where the weighbridge software needs the total weight but the operator wants to see each load-point during calibration and fault-finding.

The 8-way comparator works on any channel, so set-point control for batching or filling runs locally without a PLC scan cycle adding latency.

Where the GMT-X4 fits

Pick the GMT-X4 when the cabinet needs more than one load-cell channel and DIN-rail mounting is available. For single-channel heavy duty visit the GMT-X1 covers the same fieldbus protocols in a smaller package.

Frequently asked questions

Can the GMT-X4 really run four separate scales independently?

Yes. Each of the four load-cell channels has its own calibration, division, decimal point and capacity. Channel 1 can be a 5 kg check-weigh scale while channel 4 is a 50-tonne silo - both running through the same DIN-rail module, both reporting independently over Modbus or Profinet.

How many load cells can each channel handle?

Each channel drives up to 10 × 350 Ω load cells in parallel - 40 cells across all four channels combined. Sensitivity options are 1 mV/V, 2 mV/V or 3 mV/V per channel.

What is Combination mode and when do I use it?

Combination mode sums two-to-four channels into one total weight reading. Typical uses are split-platform scales (two or four load-receiving modules), multi-hopper batching where the PLC asks for a single accumulated weight.

Which fieldbus protocols are supported?

Standard built-in RS232 + RS485 ports. Order options add Profinet, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, CC-Link IE Field Basic and CAN-open. A 4-channel analogue input/output board is also available.

How big is the GMT-X4 in the cabinet?

61 × 132 × 126 mm on a standard 35 mm DIN-rail, 883 g. That makes it about twice the width of a typical single-channel DIN module - significantly less cabinet space than four separate transmitters would consume.
